Installation
How do I install SpaceUp Mac?
Download SpaceUpMac.dmg from the button at the top of this site, open it, and drag SpaceUp Mac into your Applications folder. That is the whole install: no wizard, and no background helpers are added. The app is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens like any other Mac app.
macOS will not let me open the app
Because SpaceUp Mac is signed and notarized by Apple, it opens like any other Mac app: no scary warning and no right-click workaround. If it genuinely will not open, first check you are on macOS 14 or later, then delete the DMG and download it again, since an unfinished download is the usual cause. If a fresh copy still will not open, email us and we will help.
It says the app is damaged or cannot be opened
That almost always means the download did not finish. Delete the DMG, download it again from this site, and open it again. If it keeps happening, email us and we will help.
License activation
How do I activate my license?
Open SpaceUp Mac, click "Have a license? Unlock" in the sidebar, and paste the key from your purchase email. To verify it, the app sends your license key and your Mac's name to Lemon Squeezy, and nothing about your files.
My key will not activate
Check for an extra space or a missing character when pasting, and make sure you are online for the first activation. After that first check the app trusts the license stored on your Mac, even offline. If it still refuses, email us with the address you bought with and we will sort it out.
Can I use my license on more than one Mac?
Yes. Paste the same key into "Have a license? Unlock" on any Mac you own or control. On the same Mac the license survives reinstalls, so you are never asked to pay twice.
Lost or missing license
I lost my license key
Your key is in the purchase email from Lemon Squeezy. Search your inbox for "Lemon Squeezy" or "SpaceUp Mac", including your spam folder. If you still cannot find it, email us with the name or address you bought with and we will resend it.
I reinstalled and the app forgot my license
On the same Mac the license is kept in your login Keychain and is picked up automatically after a reinstall. If you removed it, just paste your key again. Moving to a new Mac works the same way: paste the key once.
Scan troubleshooting
My scan found little or nothing
On the direct download the usual cause is Full Disk Access. macOS hides some junk folders until you allow it, so results read smaller than reality. Grant access in System Settings, Privacy and Security, Full Disk Access, turn on SpaceUp Mac, then scan again. A genuinely tidy Mac can also just have little to clean, which is a good result.
The scan is slow or seems stuck
Scanning runs entirely on your Mac and your files never leave it, so the first pass can take a minute on a full disk. If it seems stuck, quit SpaceUp Mac and open it again, and make sure you are on macOS 14 or later.
Will scanning or cleaning delete something by accident?
Scanning only measures. Nothing is removed until you approve it on the review screen, where every item shows its size and a plain reason. Your own files go to the Trash so you can undo, and rebuildable junk like caches is cleared directly.
Refunds
How do I get a refund?
Email [email protected] within 14 days of your purchase and you get your money back. No form, no exit survey. After a refund the license deactivates on its next check and the app returns to the free tier, so scanning keeps working.
I bought through the Mac App Store
Mac App Store refunds go through Apple rather than us, using Apple's standard refund process. The Mac App Store version is coming soon; today SpaceUp Mac is a direct download.
Compatibility
Which Macs and macOS versions are supported?
SpaceUp Mac runs on macOS 14 or later, on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. It is a universal binary, so you download one file that runs natively on either chip.
Is there a Windows version or support for older macOS?
No. SpaceUp Mac is a Mac app for macOS 14 and later, and there is no Windows version. If you are on an older macOS, the manual steps in our guides still work with no app at all.
