SpaceUp Mac is free to scan and free for your first clean. The full unlock is $4.99 one time, for life. There is no subscription, no account, and nothing extra to buy after that.
What the free tier includes
Download the app and it scans your whole Mac with no payment and no sign-up. You see everything it finds with real sizes: caches, developer junk, big files, app leftovers. Your first clean is free too, so you can watch exactly how it handles deletions, with everything shown on a review screen first, before deciding whether the app is worth $4.99. More on that in Cleaning and safety.
After that first clean, scanning stays free forever. You can keep using SpaceUp Mac as a storage x-ray and clean things by hand if you prefer. Our guide to freeing up disk space walks through the manual route, genuinely.

Buying the lifetime unlock
Checkout runs through Lemon Squeezy, the Merchant of Record for the direct version. Your card details go to them, never to us. After paying, your license key arrives by email.
To activate it, open SpaceUp Mac, click “Have a license? Unlock” in the sidebar, and paste the key. That’s the whole process. Pricing details live on the homepage.
What activation sends
Activation sends two things to the license server: your key and your Mac’s name, the one from System Settings, like “Irshad’s MacBook Air”. Later launches quietly reconfirm the key together with an activation ID. Deactivate This Mac sends that same key and activation ID, only when you click it. No file names, no scan results, nothing about what’s on your disk. Besides this license check, the app goes online only if you allow update checks, and those carry nothing about you or your disk. If you’re offline, the app trusts the license already stored on your Mac. You’re never locked out because the Wi-Fi is down.
Moving to a new Mac
Your key works on up to two Macs you own or control at a time. To move it, free it on the old Mac first, then activate on the new one:
- On the old Mac, open SpaceUp Mac and click About SpaceUp Mac at the bottom of the sidebar (it’s also in the SpaceUp Mac menu).
- Click Copy Key if you don’t have your purchase email handy. Your key goes to the clipboard.
- Click Deactivate This Mac and confirm. That Mac goes back to the free version, and scanning there stays free.
- On the new Mac, click “Have a license? Unlock” in the sidebar and paste your key.
Deactivate This Mac arrived in version 1.0.2. If the old Mac runs an earlier version, choose Check for Updates in the SpaceUp Mac menu first, or download the latest version from the homepage.
If the app says your key is already active on its maximum number of Macs
Every activation uses one of the two, including activating again on the same Mac after removing the app’s Keychain entries. When both are in use, the app explains how to free one: deactivate it on one of those Macs as above, then activate again.
If you no longer have that Mac, it was sold or it won’t start, click Email Support on that same screen, or write to [email protected] with your key. We’ll free one up for you, usually the Mac you no longer use.
On the same Mac, the license survives reinstalls. It’s stored in your login Keychain, so deleting the app and downloading it again never asks you to pay twice. The uninstall page covers what stays behind and how to remove it completely.
Refunds
Email [email protected] within 14 days of your purchase and you’ll get your money back. No form, no exit survey. We’d rather you leave with your money and a good impression than keep $4.99 from someone who regrets it.
After a refund, the license key deactivates. On its next license check the app notices and returns to the free tier. Scanning keeps working, so you lose nothing you didn’t pay for.
The Mac App Store version
Coming soon. That build is sandboxed, so it uses a folder picker instead of Full Disk Access, and purchases go through Apple. Refunds for that version follow Apple’s process instead of the email one above.
Updates
Every update is free, including future major versions. No maintenance plan, no yearly renewal, no “your license expired” email a year from now, and no separate purchase when a new major version lands. You pay once and the app keeps getting better, for good.
