What's new
Last updated: September 25, 2026
Every version of the direct download, newest first. The Mac App Store version, once it's live, updates through the App Store.
Version 1.0.1
September 2026
- New: in-app updates. Use Check for Updates in the SpaceUp Mac menu, or let the app check about once a day. It asks before it ever checks, and a check sends nothing about you or your files. Section 6 of the privacy policy has the details. This is the first version with updates built in, so if you have 1.0.0, download 1.0.1 once and future versions arrive in the app.
- Permanent items (iPhone and iPad backups, Empty Trash, Xcode Archives) are marked Can't undo, are never ticked by the All buttons, and are named in a confirmation first. Anything added to them or changed after the scan is left alone.
- Deep Scan asks before trashing personal folders, app data, unsorted folders and generic build folders. Build, target and Pods folders only count as rebuildable next to their project files.
- Deep Scan shows iPhone backups, simulators and sync folders for information only.
- Known local AI model caches, including Chrome's on-device model, are left unticked or kept out of the cache sweep.
- Chrome's downloadable components and Claude's Cowork VM images are skipped while Chrome or Claude is open.
- Advisor asks before removing simulators or thinning Time Machine snapshots.
- Uninstall never lists another app's data, and leaves an app's settings alone if the app itself can't be moved.
- A clean that removes nothing no longer uses up your free cleanup.
